it started with a simple single feed called ‘coming soon’ + grew from there.
today the trailers experience is a place to discover the next new show/movie to watch, see what’s trending, & find hidden gems from the wayback machine.
watching trailers is a thing.
the new design
the evolution of coming soon led to a left margin-focused design to call out important details like release date + top ranked shows/movies.
many different tab names were tested & considered to capture the range of content.
additionally, members can set a reminder + be notified when an anticipated title drops.
this is meaningful because it can open a feedback loop.
building on the success
upon understanding the value that trailers provided to members, sub-lists were explored to extend that value.
some of the sub-lists considered include top 10, this time last year, trending on netflix, & many more.
it’s in the details
interactions were leveraged to help communicate transition & orient members in trailers sub-lists.
whether it’s transitioning members from a single feed to a multi-feed, or a left margin-focused design to a full-width one, the animations were approached with intent + thoughtfulness.
show what is helpful. remove what is not.
each component of the design aims to address what members need to see in order to easily take in & find their next binge worthy entertainment. anything that did not serve this purpose was removed by way of testing.
fast forward to today, trailers meaningfully helps our members easily find content that is worthy of their entertainment.
